New episodes not showing (e.g. Géopolitique) – with workaround

It’s been a few weeks now that one of my favorite podcasts, the very popular “Géopolitique” from France Inter, stopped showing up new items in Pocket Casts – even though they show up fine in all other podcast apps I’ve tried.
The URL for that podcast is https://radiofrance-podcast.net/podcast09/35099478-7c72-4f9e-a6de-1b928400e9e5/rss_10009.xml
It looks like this is due to their adding a permalink item (with a
guid
element that hasisPermalink="true"
) as first item in the feed – it’s a short permanent ad. This seems to mess up with Pocket’s logic to figure out latest episodes or something.I’ve confirmed this by developing a quick-and-dirty proxy that will strip all permalink items from that feed (URL https://n8n.1mediacenter.org/webhook/rss-patch), which works fine in the app.
Of course this is a workaround, and it would be great if the app would handle these smoothly!

Hi! There’s a slight possibility this could be related to some server issues we’ve been experiencing recently. The developers are currently working on potential fixes, though.
Could you perhaps try the following?- Turning your device off and back on may sometimes do the trick.
- Force close the app and restart it.

Hi there,
Exactly the same issue for me for maybe a couple of weeks now, with some other podcast from “France Info” (same radio group). New episodes are not showing up. I finally tested this from other podcasts apps, and new episodes are showing up there.
I tried to restart my iPhone, but this didn’t help.
I really hope you’ll find a solution, because I just love your app :-)

Hi, @yjouanique and @altered98c8bef761! Our developers are already aware of the issue with this podcast, and they are currently working on a fix. We don’t have a timeline yet for when that will be released, however. For now, the workaround is to unsubscribe and resubscribe.

@grazav The issue with your podcast is a different one. Specifically, the feed URL we had on file for it (https://feeds.acast.com/public/shows/6507ef04cb582e00119c0121) does not contain information. It looks like the podcast author changed the URL without a proper redirect, so our system did not automatically detect the change.
In any case, I found the new feed URL, and I’ve updated the podcast listing. You should now be getting the latest episodes for this podcast. Kindly check that on your end!

I would just note that the workaround to unsub / resub will only work once, i.e. all episodes will show up when you re-sub, but all subsequent episodes from then on will still not show up. This means you would have to do this every day… :/

The developers will be releasing a potential fix for the issue with version 7.53 of the app, so please keep an eye on when that becomes available for your device in the Apple App Store.
