Parental Controls
-
I have been searching high and low for a podcast app with parental controls with no luck. Is it something you’d be willing to incorporate into your app?
Most ‘kid’ specific podcast apps have a list of predetermined, curated podcasts, but none allow *adding* or monitoring what kids can subscribe or listen to. The result are apps with content appropriate for preschoolers or younger elementary, but none catering to or allowing control for older kids and young teens.
The control can be as simple as pin/password-restrictions for listening to or subscribing to a new podcast. Ideally, search can be filtered to specific ages (or at least exclude explicit content), but what I and millions of parents need is a way to have any podcast available, but require permission (read: pin or password locked) to listen or subscribe.
Thank you!

Hi @futuristicengineerb98c76137d
Thanks for reaching out! We do have a feature request for parental controls. I have added your vote to our internal tracker.

Is there any update on this? Would love to see this feature added for Pocketcasts. I think it would add a lot of new subscribers if this was a feature offered in the plus plan. Thanks!

@galaxycoole245af4fc3 we haven’t implemented the more comprehensive features that the original dfwdx mentioned in their initial post, but we have started rolling out support for explicit tags. So podcast feeds that indicate that their content are explicit will now have a “E” icon displayed on the podcast’s details page/screen.

Unfortunately I had to move on and find different solution. Gertrude AM is an option for Apple devices, nothing available for Android so looking to see if I can build my own. Shame, would love to have subscribed for this feature alone.
