Playback notification disappears from lock screen after being paused 1+ minute
-
I don’t have this issue with any other app including other podcast players, YouTube or YouTube music. As a OnePlus user now, I also don’t have OneUI. I don’t have to wait any time for the issue to occur. If I play a podcast, lock the screen, use the lock screen controls to pause, as soon as I hit play again it disappears. Regardless of time or any other action.

@erikkpainting, it very well may be an Android issue and, if so, we also hope it’s resolved with an update soon. Please let us know if you have anything else to add that could help us determine that, though. And as Joey mentioned, you can feel free to follow the progress on the issue on GitHub.

I’m having exactly the same issue and it’s driving me nuts. Have all the correct things enabled and disabled etc
Have a Samsung s21 (yes way overdue for an upgrade!), had the issue with Android 14 OneUI 6.1 and now having it with Android 15 OneUI 7.0 .
Currently using Pocket Casts 7.94 (9359) -

+1 – I also received at least one OS update in the meanwhile but the issue still remains.

Hi all,
Thanks for sharing your experiences. We’ve filed the issue here on GitHub for tracking: #4062.
However, we’ve noticed that YouTube Music shows the same behavior, which suggests this may be a OneUI issue rather than something specific to Pocket Casts. We’ll continue monitoring the situation and share updates if there are any changes.

Hi, to reiterate, this issue does not occur on YouTube music or other podcast apps. I have tested multiple and had this experience nowhere else. Nor is it just impacting OneUI. It also impacts OxygenOS 15.

Update: in the meanwhile I’ve switched phones from the OnePlus 11 to the OnePlue 13 and the app keeps showing the same behavior. Someone mentioned this being a OneUI issue but that would only affect Samsung phones which is not the case.
It’s still consistently the only app that has this issue on my phone, unlike Spotify for example.
FYI – resuming playback via my earphones still works even after minutes of pause.

hi grimoire
its really frustrating. I would now pin it on some stupid programming incompatibility on the phones version/software. It’s still happening on my s24+ but for all of my media apps; steaming or otherwise (audiobook players).
It just seems there are so many versions of the operating system to encompass too many variables in hardware that some of us fall through the gaps.
I’m running the latest oneui with all updates while others don’t with other combinations of phone/op system.
this is not an app issue. I believe it’s fully Samsung/google/hardware issue. Not all same model phones run the same processors/circuitry. 😐

The media widget on the lock screen or in notifications is part of the operating system. Any media apps, including Pocket Casts, will appear on it as long as the media is playing. However, implementation depends solely on the device manufacturer.
-
Just for me to understand. In that case, shouldn’t all apps experience the same issue? Why is only Pocket Casts affected and similar apps like Spotify or Poweramp player are not?

@grimoireweiss1 @yonigrady As a preliminary check, can you ensure that Pocket Casts is allowed to run in the background and there is no battery optimization plan enabled that might quit Pocket Casts?

@grimoireweiss1 @yonigrady if you’re still experiencing this issue after the latest update, could you send app logs along to us through the app? This can be done by navigating to Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support.

Still having the issue with the latest version while all other notification controls for other apps work fine.
-
Hey Mike,
the issue is still present after the update. I just sent the app logs over via mail.
Thanks for the help!

I’m still having the same issue with the latest version as well. I don’t have any battery optimisation for this app. I don’t have this issue with other apps. Have sent my logs via email.
Have a good day
