Playlists: What’s the point?
-
If you play a file in a playlist, the app should play it until the end, then start playing the next one in the playlist. Simple as that. If you have to enqueue the playlist in the “up next” section every time you want to hear it, then playlists are useless, which is the current state of them in the app. I fail to see why this couldn’t be implemented.

Currently, if you tap on the “Play All” button at the top of a Playlist, it will offer to replace your existing Up Next list with the contents of the Playlist and save your previous Up Next queue as a new Playlist.
However, there is another method that can be used to play all episodes in a Playlist, which is Autoplay. With Autoplay enabled, and provided that your Up Next queue is empty, Pocket Casts will automatically start the next episode from an episode list once the current episode finishes.
And that applies to Playlists as well. So one workflow we’ve seen from some users is to enable Autoplay and use Playlists and Smart Playlists to manage lists of episodes they’d like to listen to rather than using Up Next for continuous playback.
