Simply cannot log in to Pocket Casts on my Pixel Watch 4.
-
AS of 10/16/25 I have the latest versionsof both the Pocket Casts app on my phone and watch. I tried the steps in some other post about airplane mode, disabling cellular on the watch, signing in and out on my mobile. I only continually get the message that it will sign in if I have latest version on my mobile and phone.
Changing my Pocket Casts email to a gmail address is not an option.
Am I copletely out of luck here? Why is there no option to type an email and password on the watch itself?

Well, nevermind. I was able to switch my lifetimePC account to Gmail so I’m logged in. Would be nice to have another login option in the future if I don’t want to use a Gmail account.

Can you share the process for changing your email account to a Googe account?
I have a Pixel Watch 3 and was also pretty annoyed at this.
My media player interface on the watch also shows the title of the NEXT podcast in the queue when playing…. do you have the same issue?

Hi there, @mickes70! It sounds like you have a Pocket Casts with an email address, but would like to use Sign in with Google instead. Is that right? In this case, your account email should already be associated with a Google account. On Pocket Casts if you’ve signed in with email, you need to log out. Then, on the log in screen select the Sign in with Google option. Follow the prompts to connect your Pocket Casts account to the Google account.
If you need to change your current email to a different one before connecting to Google, please follow this short guide.
If you meant something else let us know so we can get you the correct info. -
Thanks for the information!
I followed those instructions (on my phone app), and I’m now logged in with Google, but it removed my Plus subscription and changed it to a Free account. How can I get Plus back?
Thanks.

I am also unable to login to the watch app. I was using a free account and wanted this to provide easy access remote control. I like the app so fine to pay for plus and get this feature. However I am still stuck on the syncing with phone thing, very frustrating. I have logged out and in again, restarted devices, reconnected networks, waited a very long time and it is always the same. I haven’t switched to a Google sign in, I didn’t do this because I don’t want to and the app says it supports a direct login via email. If that turns out to be false then I will go back to a free account and forget the watch part. Any ideas if the non Google logins do ever work?

Hi there, @internetfuturisticallycce1b43f07! I completely understand if you’d rather not switch to Google sign-in — that’s a totally reasonable preference. Just know that we don’t have a timeline yet for when your preferred login will be available on WearOS.
The best workaround right now is to use “Sign in with Google” on the Wear OS app. Based on similar cases we’ve seen, this method works much more reliably for watch login. You can keep your email/password login for all your other devices (phone, web, desktop) — you’ll just use the Google option specifically for the watch.
To make this work:
- If your Pocket Casts account isn’t already using a Gmail address, you can update your email address to match your Google account
- Sign out of the mobile app on your phone, then sign back in while your watch is paired
- On the watch app, try “Sign in with Google”
A few things to note:
- The first login can take 45 seconds to 2 minutes, so please give it time to complete
- Some users have needed to restart their watch if it gets stuck during the Google login
- Make sure both your phone and watch are running the latest version of Pocket Casts
