Subscribed to plus but cannot log into wear os app

    On my galaxy watch 4, the app says if I log into the phone app, I’ll automatically be logged in the next time I use my watch app.

    it doesn’t work.

    Any advice appreciated

  • Hi @etbrain,

    Is your watch on its own mobile plan as well? If so, would you try the following:

    • Sign out of Pocket Casts on your mobile phone
    • Enable AirPlane Mode on your phone and watch, which should disconnect your watch from your phone
    • Switch off AirPlane Mode only on your phone
    • Open the Pocket Casts app on your phone
    • Turn off AirPlane Mode on your Watch, but ensure that Mobile Data is disabled
    • Then open the Pocket Casts app on your watch
    • Sign in on your phone
    • Recheck your WearOS Pocket Casts app
    • Check if that fixes the issue

    If that doesn’t work for you, would you try our latest beta 7.69-rc-1 and see if you can log in via watch?
     
    You can opt in to the open beta for Android through the app’s page on Google Play.

    thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I’ve tried both the instructions above and installing the beta version on my phone (and then trying the instructions again) and neither logs in the watch app.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks for giving that a try. If your Pocket Casts account is using a gmail email address, can you attempt to sign in with Google via our WearOS app.

    That said, we are investigating these cases here.

    It isn’t using a gmail account unfortunately. Would it be possible to change my plus account over to gmail so I could log in that way?

  • You can give that a try, @etbrain

    The first thing you’d need to do is update your email address in Pocket Casts to your gmail address: https://support.pocketcasts.com/knowledge-base/editing-your-email-address/

    Once that is done, try signing out of the mobile app, and then try logging in with Google.

    If that works, then try doing the same when logging in on the WearOS app.

    That didn’t work because I must have already created a free account with my Gmail

    is it possible to either delete the free account or move plus over to it?

    update: I deleted the free Gmail account then updated my plus account email .. and it has worked.

    I can now log into my watch app. Thanks for your help!

    Hi there,

    Are you able please to share how exactly you got this to work?

    You say “I deleted the free Gmail account then updated my plus account email .. and it has worked“.

    I have had a Pocket Casts Plus account linked to a non-Gmail email address.

    Based on what it is I think it is you did, I tried the following, but still the WearOS app won’t login:

    • Logged out (in phone) of Pocket Casts Plus account, and signed up (via “Continue with Google”) for a free account.
    • I then immediately deleted that new free account via Delete Account option in Account on the Pocket Casts phone app.
    • I then switched the email address on my Pocket Casts Plus account to my Gmail email.
    • Then tried “login in on phone” on the WearOS app, but still stuck on “Syncing with phone…”
    • Tried again uninstalling Pocket Casts both on phone and watch, rebooting both devices and reinstalling Pocket Casts, but problem remains.

  • @oliver1conroy We may need to dig into app logs to determine the cause of this issue. Could you reach out to our team through the app by navigating to Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support?

    You may receive an automatic response with suggestions from our documentation, but if those don’t do the trick you can reply to the message to reach out to our team directly so we can review the logs that were sent.

    Thank you for responding @mikerockwell, but my reply was intended to be directed to @etbrain, who had suggested he was able to resolve the issue via some kind of switch-out of email addresses or of free versus paid accounts. (I had selected the Reply link on his last response, but it looks as though all replies just get added to the end of the thread, meaning it’s necessary to reference a forum user if your message is meant for them).

    I may contact Pocket Cast support (although given the extent of self-troubleshooting I have already tried by now) I suspect any suggestions your support makes will be measures I will have already attempted.

    In the meantime, I would appreciate if @etbrain can respond to my last reply.
