Liquid Glass on iOS?

Hello, I would like to know if there are plans to update the Pocket Casts design to Liquid Glass in its iOS version.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there, @febrers! We don’t have plans for that at the moment. However, I’ve shared this request with our team so they’re aware there is some interest.

Is there any update on this? Are there plans for Liquid glass support in pocketcasts? I would love to have it!

  • @v9zm7pt5bh At the moment, we have no updates to share regarding the implementation of Liquid Glass. I’ll recommend checking out the App Store “What’s New” section for updates from time to time as it’ll be posted there when this UI is implemented.

    Hi,

I was wondering if there are any updates regarding the possibility of implementation Pocket Casts to Liquid Glass. It would really make the design look much more modern and appealing. Please take it into consideration! Regards.

  • @febrers Implementation of Liquid Glass is in the roadmap. However, we have no ETA to provide at the moment.

It was just released in the TestFlight beta.

I got the Liquid Glass update for iOS (TestFlight) overall I like the update but can you improve the following points @staff-dexter

    • quicker switch between collapse and normal view of the bottom bar
    • dedicated up next button for the mini player (as now you need to „de-collapse“ the bottom bar and then click on up next

  • quicker switch between collapse and normal view of the bottom bar

Do you mean you want the animation to be quicker, want it to automatically expand in situations where it isn’t currently, an option to have it always expanded to the full view, or something else?

dedicated up next button for the mini player (as now you need to „de-collapse“ the bottom bar and then click on up next

The design when the bar is collapsed is a bit tight. Were you thinking that we could add an Up Next button on the right side of the Now Playing section of the collapsed bar? Would you expect elements of the Now Playing section to be hidden in favor of showing the Up Next button? Or were you thinking we could keep all of the existing elements, but shrink them in order to make room for the Up Next button?

Hello @mikerockwell – thank you for the reply

your first question: it would be nice to have an option to toggle the automatic collapse on/off (I did not thought about this). In my mind was a lower threshold for automatic collapse / de-collapse of the MiniPlayer. For example when I am in my loooong filter (maybe 100 episodes scrolled down) the MiniPlayer is already collapsed but now I need to scroll all the way to the top to have a non collapse one. (I know that I can click on the icon left from the MiniPlayer but scrolling up for some „time“ or „distance“ should force the MiniPlayer to „maximise“ again.

Second point – up next button:

I agree. The new MiniPlayer is pretty tight in space. Maybe the podcast artwork is not needed in the collapse MiniPlayer view. Or the episode title get less space. This would give some more space or you could add the up-next button on the right sight of the collapse MiniPlayer as a dedicated button (which would result in more „less space“)

  • Thanks for that feedback, @bkrnk! I’ve shared it with our design and development team. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback we can share to improve the overall experience.

    Hello,

First of all, thank you for applying Liquid Glass to your iOS app. Pocket Casts now has a more modern and elegant appearance, aligned with the system’s design guidelines. It’s a very important step forward for those of us who appreciate that an app, beyond its functionality, should also be visually pleasing.

I understand this is just a first step. However, I’d like to suggest some changes to give it an even more modern touch:

    • Bubble actions for row gestures. Like other iOS apps, the actions that appear when you swipe a row should now appear as bubbles instead of rectangular boxes. I’m attaching screenshots from another app (Micropod) that has already implemented this, as an example.

    • Inset grouped menus in the Settings section. The rows would be grouped into cards with rounded corners, following the current iOS design patterns.

    • One more suggestion: a “Hero with Tinted Backdrop” design like the one introduced in Apple Music on iOS 26, for the podcast episode list pages. It would use color tones from the podcast artwork. I’m attaching screenshots from Micropod as a reference.

Thank you for considering these suggestions. Keep up the great work to make the best podcasting app!
